First Time Central Heating Grants

Central Heating Grants in Bedford

Are you struggling to keep warm during the cold winter months? If you are a homeowner in Bedford or Kempston Hardwick in Bedfordshire, you may be eligible for a free first-time gas central heating system through the ECO scheme.

What is the ECO scheme?

The Eco-Home Network is making it easier for households in the UK to access free central heating systems through funding from the Eco Scheme. You may qualify for this grant if you currently have no heating system or a system without a boiler and no more than one radiator.

Eligibility Requirements

To be approved for the grant, someone living at the property must receive one or more qualifying state benefits, such as Child Benefits or Universal Credit. Exceptions may apply under the ECO Flex rules found on the Eligibility form. Additionally, you must own your home, or private tenants must have permission from the landlord. Your existing boiler must be over five years old, your property must have a gas supply, and you must receive a combination of government benefits.

Affordable Warmth Scheme

The Affordable Warmth Scheme provides central heating grants to qualifying households under the ECO initiative, which aims to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions in the UK. By moving from off-gas heating sources to gas central heating systems, you can help the UK reach its goal of net 0% carbon emissions by 2050.

How to Apply

If you meet the eligibility requirements for the central heating grant scheme, you can apply today and start experiencing the benefits of a free central heating system. The Eco-Home Network is working with homeowners in Bedford and Kempston Hardwick in Bedfordshire to claim ECO 4 grants using the Government's ECO scheme. You may be eligible for the grant depending on your current circumstances, property type, and EPC rating. People who claim an eligible benefit, are on a low income or have an illness affected by the cold may be eligible. As long as you have had a gas meter installed before March 2022 and there is only one radiator, you may be eligible for the grant. This grant is only available for properties with an EPC rating of G, F, or E.
